Carson’s Village Newsletter – January 2018

Dear Friends of Carson’s Village –

We want to thank everyone for your donations, Facebook shares, and constant support of our family and our new mission. We are honored to do this work and it is very meaningful to honor Carson’s life in this way.

This is the first release of a periodic newsletter that will share some of the momentum that we have built with Carson’s Village to date. As we build this new organization, we are finding that there is a significant need for our services and a great deal of community support. We hope you are as proud as we are of what we’ve accomplished, with your help, to serve our community in the last few months.

  1. Referrals – We have had multiple referrals to families in need from both the Coppell Police Department and Medical City Las Colinas.  We are happy to report that we were able to clear hurdles and stress points for each individual family so that they could focus more on healing and less on all the intricate details.  Some of the comments that we received back in our exit interviews described our work as “Compassionate” and that we went “Above and Beyond what was needed.”  Family members would “highly recommend” us to any family.
  2. New Partnerships – In the month of January, we added five Baylor Scott & White Hospitals in the Metroplex.  We are also in discussions with Aetna Insurance to provide our services to their team as well.  Word is getting out about our services and organizations are now proactively reaching out to us to establish a partnership.
  3. Social Media Campaign – On January 22nd we launched our Facebook campaign and it has been incredibly successful.  As of January 31st, our original post has been viewed by over 10,000 people.  That is an incredible accomplishment by such a small organization in such a short time frame. Look for more social media on Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat in the future.
  4. Coppell Health and Wellness Expo – On Saturday, January 27th, we, along with our son Ryan, attended an Expo in Coppell hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.  We made several contacts in the healthcare industry and we were able to meet the Chamber of Commerce President.  But the best interaction, however, came from meeting the Mayor of Coppell, Karen Hunt.  She has offered to connect us to her network so that we can spread the word about Carson’s Village to an even greater audience.
  5. Carson’s Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Pledge Class – Carson was nominated to be the Spring Pledge Class namesake for the APO Chapter at Texas A&M University because of the community work that we are doing.  Not only is this an incredibly meaningful honor, it presents a great opportunity to utilize the support of APO to expand awareness to the Bryan/College Station area.
  6. MBA Challenge – Carson’s Village was accepted by the Texas A&M University Mays School of Business to be a participant in the MBA Challenge.  Through this program, a team of MBA students will provide business support in the form of a case competition.  We are very excited about this and look forward to seeing their recommendations.

Coming in February, Carson’s Village will have a presence at the Adolescent Symposium of Texas, a conference designed for anyone who works with teens and adolescents. Our goal is to connect with other service providers that can share our resources with families in need.

Please remember that you can continue to help us by:

  1. Referring us to a family in need.
  2. Connecting us to your network to help us spread the word.
  3. Asking your friends and family to follow us on Social Media.
  4. Making a donation.

We need your village to help Carson’s Village grow.

Sincerely,
Jason and April Dyke
