P2P Volunteers Needed

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Carson’s Village is excited to announce the rollout of an extensive Peer-2-Peer (P2P) grief support program. This program is designed to offer support to those who have experienced a recent loss by connecting them to a trained and certified member of the Carson’s Village community, a volunteer, who has had a similar loss in the past.

We are looking for volunteers to become trained by Carson’s Village to help people who have had a similar loss. We realize this is a significant commitment but the right volunteer will provide educated support, comfort and direction for those who are dealing with grief. Here is what would be asked of them:

  1. We would conduct an interview to make sure that this program is a good fit.
  2. Each Villager would be subject to a background check.
  3. Virtually attend four training sessions totaling approximately 20 hours.
  4. Be matched up with a “Peer” (person with the loss) with your approval.
  5. Commit to meet with this individual at least twice a month if both of you feel it is appropriate (meetings can be phone calls, zoom calls, or whatever mode of communication you both are comfortable with).
  6. While paired with a Peer, we ask that you have a monthly quick conversation with the Carson’s Village P2P Program Coordinator to ensure everything is running smoothly.

As they go through this process they will have access to a licensed grief counselor to support them. I know that this is a time commitment in a very busy world, but the intention is help people deal with their loss and get to a place where they can heal in a healthy way.
