Advocate Position
MAKE AN IMPACT! Join the Carson’s Village team as a part-time MSW Advocate. Carson’s Village is seeking a compassionate and dedicated part-time MSW Advocate to support families during the difficult period following the loss of a loved one. Job Skills
- Masters of Social Work or equivalent (required)
- Prefer 3-5 year of field experience direct care (grief is preferred)
- Fluent in Spanish (REQUIRED)
- Good verbal and written communications
- Have empathy and relationship skills
- Has strong customer service skills
- Investigative abilities and internet search skills required
- Ability to condense information from multiple sources and communicate it
- Well organized
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
- Has attention to detail
- Works well in ambiguous situations
- Has analytical and critical thinking skills
- Dependable and meets deadlines
- Be available to respond on-call as needed
- Has flexibility to work weekends if needed
Key Responsibilities
- Lead families through the Carson’s Village process
- Assist families in identifying a funeral home and exploring payment options
- Connect families to valuable resources
- Provide emotional support and guidance for up to two years following the funeral
- Utilize your expertise to identify and address potential mental health issues before they escalate
- Access Carson’s Village’s library for common questions and solutions
- Research and document situations new to the organization
- Document each family interaction in Carson’s Village database
- Provide feedback to Carson’s Village to enhance and improve processes
- Act as the primary account manager for partner organizations (if applicable)
- Other duties as assigned
Expectations
- Sign a confidentiality agreement with Carson’s Village (CV)
- Pass a background check
- Attend training sessions at the start of the job and meet virtually as needed
- All work is completed remotely
- Follow all Carson’s Village communications guidelines
- Has a quiet place at home to work (office with doors)
- Conduct family communications by phone, text or email – no live meetings are permitted without prior approval from Carson’s Village
Compensation and Schedule
- Negotiable based on skill set
- Hours based on family request load plus work to document our processes
- Flexibility is required as families call in
- Paid every two weeks with direct deposit (if available)
