Five Ways to Support Carson’s Village

We need your support as we continue to fortify and grow Carson’s Village. If you have a heart to help, here are five ways you can become a Villager—that is, be a friend to our mission to support families coping with sudden loss.

Sometimes we convince ourselves that we can’t make a difference with the causes we care about, simply because we don’t have the ability to write a large check, or because we don’t feel we have enough influence.

But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The fact is, anyone with a heart to help families who’ve experienced the sudden loss of a loved one can be a friend to Carson’s Village. Here’s how:

One: Tell us about Dallas-Fort Worth-area community events and organizations that need speakers and presenters.

When it comes to spreading the word about the mission of Carson’s Village, nothing is more powerful than face-to-face interaction. That’s why we’re always on the lookout for opportunities to get in front of groups large and small where we can share our story, answer questions, make a pitch for support, or create awareness of our services and resources.

If you’re aware of (or someday learn about) opportunities that might be a good fit for Carson’s Village, such as the examples listed below, please tell us about them:

  • Community health/wellness fairs
  • Mental health awareness events
  • Service organizations that need guest speakers
  • Employers or professional development organizations who need “lunch-and-learn” presenters

Personal introductions are always helpful, but your “just an idea” suggestions are very welcome, too.

Two: Keep us tucked away in your mental back pocket.

Sooner or later, there’s a good chance that someone in your universe will find themselves dealing with the unexpected loss of a loved one.  When that day arrives, please keep us in mind for a possible referral (read “How To Make A Referral To Carson’s Village”). You can direct people to our website—or, if appropriate, provide us with contact information and we’ll reach out with an offer of assistance. (Note that while we’re currently providing face-to-face services to families in the Dallas-Fort Worth-area only, anyone is of course welcome to access the resources found on our website).

Three: Remember that there’s no such thing as a gift that’s too small.

Contributions of any amount help us further our mission, and they can be easily made via the secure donation page on our website. Also: Did you know that you can help Carson’s Village every time you shop Amazon? All you have to do is access your account through smile.amazon.com and designate Carson’s Village as your charity, shop away, then remember to access Amazon each time through that same link. You’ll have the same shopping experience that you always have, except that Amazon will donate .5% of the purchase cost of all of your eligible purchases to us. Find out more.

Four: Invite your friends to follow us on Facebook.

Social media is one of the most important vehicles we use to make people aware of our mission.  To encourage others to follow Carson’s Village on Facebook, select the “invite your friends” button located in the “Community” section of our page—it can be found in the far right column on your computer or under the “About” section in mobile environments.

Five: Connect us with a potential funding source or referral partner.

Are you aware of (or perhaps a part of) an organization that we should know about, such as:

  • A non-profit that has a related mission (such as grief counseling or victims services)?
  • A hospital or law enforcement agency that regularly interacts with families who might need our services?
  • An organization that is looking for a community beneficiary for an annual fundraiser?
  • A foundation or other grant-extending organization that may have available funding?

Again, while we value personal introductions, don’t feel like you have to offer one in order to pass along a possible lead. To get in touch, you can use the contact form on our website or send an email to help@carsonsvillage.org.
