The annual Powder Puff football game hosted by the Coppell Cheerleading Association was on May 18, 2019 and our very own April Dyke played for the “Black Mombas” team. Carson’s Village was honored to be a beneficiary again this year. The “Red Zone Diamonds” took the win this year after a hard fought game. April said “Although we did not repeat our victory from last year, we still had a great time!”.
Two months into the United Way Social Innovation Accelerator program at United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Carson’s Village is choosing milestones and meeting with mentors to scale and determine business strategies. Carson’s Village is one of ten nonprofit organizations going through the program, all of which are launching amazing work in our community. We learned this week that our mentors will be Gwen Echols and David Evans, two outstanding community leaders who will offer so much guidance as we continue to grow and evolve.
Carson’s Village started its first formal pilot with Blue Cross Blue shield in May 2019. After Jason conducted the initial training class, Blue Cross Blue Shield is now prepared to refer their members across Texas to Carson’s Village in times of need.
June 27, 2019 marks two years since we launched Carson’s Village. We are incredibly honored to do this work in Carson’s memory. The organization has grown so much and has a great deal of momentum behind it. Much of that momentum is because of YOU. Your support, your referrals and your investment have moved the needle and this week, we helped our 155th family. You can continue to make an impact by giving generously in honor of our two years in the community. Please visit Carson’s Village donate page to support our work. Thank you.
