Villager Agreement

The following agreement is made between the individual named below and Carson’s Village. I voluntarily accept the role of Villager. I understand that becoming a Villager is a 1-year commitment, where I’ll be supporting someone grieving from a recent loss. I also understand that I must complete 20 hours of initial training and participate in monthly trainings that will help me be as supportive as possible to my Peer.

CONFIDENTIALITY
I agree to respect the confidential nature of all information discussed during the Villager/Peer meetings. Everything discussed will remain confidential unless otherwise specified at the time of the discussion. However, if during the meeting thoughts of suicide or ideation of harm is disclosed, I will let the Peer know that I must contact the Carson’s Village P2P Program Coordinator for further assistance.
NOTE: If this is a phone call/virtual meeting, please stay on the call with your Peer until Carson’s Village P2P Program Coordinator speaks with you both.
COMMUNICATION
I agree to meet at least twice per month with my Peer. I agree that if a meeting is in person and not held virtually, that meeting must occur at a public setting. At the end of each meeting, we will agree to a date and time for the next meeting.
ROLE OF THE VILLAGER
It is expected that as a Villager you act as a peer supporter to those who are actively grieving the loss of a loved one. The Villager’s role is to provide guidance and support to the Peer, based on his/her unique grief journey.
NOTE: We at Carson’s Village ask that as a Villager you DO NOT: give financial support and/or provide any medical, clinical and/or psychological advice to the Peer.
Each person’s grief journey is unique and different things help different people. The Villager agrees to be honest, kind, and compassionate to make this a rich and rewarding experience for the Peer as well as for themselves.
