I’m very proud to announce that Carson’s Village has been selected to participate in The Pitch, part of the United Way Social Innovation Accelerator, in collaboration with Accenture. This exciting event helps promote social innovators in North Texas and encourages the creation of bold new solutions to improve education, income, and health in our community.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Gilley’s Dallas, Carson’s Village will compete against four other social entrepreneurs for up to $225,000 in funding and the title of Social Innovator of the Year. Carson’s Village will be introduced by a short, powerful video and then I will make a 5 minute pitch to convince the judges and the audience that Carson’s Village is most worthy of this award.

But we need your support. Here are three easy ways to help us take home the title:

1. Attend The Pitch — Come out to watch us pitch our organization and be part of the live audience who will vote to decide the winner. Get your tickets here.

2. Watch the live stream – If you can’t come to the event, please tune into the livestream on UnitedWayDallas.org on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. and you’ll get to vote for the winner of the Digital People’s Choice Award, who will receive up to $25,000 raised through the #InnovateUnited campaign.

3. Share on Social — From March 1 to April 7, every social share using #InnovateUnited adds another $5 in prize money, up to an additional $25,000, to be awarded by an on online vote the night of the event. Please watch Carson’s Village on Facebook to see posts about the pitch and share them using this hashtag! We will be sending out reminders starting in March so don’t worry! You can learn more about The Pitch (and check out our competition) here.

Thanks for being a part of our big day!

Thank you to partner Baylor Scott & White Hospital System for engaging their Pastoral Care team in Carson’s Village. Over the next few months, all chaplains within the Baylor Scott & White system will be trained to refer appropriate patient families to Carson’s Village for bereavement support. Baylor has been a partner since the beginning, investing in the operations of Carson’s Village each year.

Many thanks to Carson’s Village board member Mark Grace, Chief, Office of Mission & Ministry at Baylor, for his leadership in making this happen. We look forward to extending the services that Baylor proudly provides its patients by easing the stress after the loss of a loved one.
