To date, Carson’s Village has helped 292 families.

2019 was a year to remember.

•  Carson’s Village has served 292 families in 27 states, 210 since January 1, 2019, an increase of 153% over 2018.

•  Carson’s Village secured a top five spot in United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Social Innovation Accelerator and will go on to pitch at ‘The Pitch’ in April 2020, competing for up to $80,000.

• Carson’s Village was named Organization of the Year (small) at the DCEO 2019 Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards and had a full-page feature in the August DCEO Magazine.

• Carson’s Village invested to scale, hiring its first part-time Advocate to support families, developed a Salesforce CRM system, was granted office space in the Wilson District, designed a corporate benefits package and invested in business development to serve more families. Save the Date: April 7, 2020 is United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ The Pitch

Carson’s Village is proud to announce that it has been chosen by United Way of Metropolitan Dallas as one of five nonprofit organizations to participate in The Pitch, United Way’s fourth annual social innovation competition. In hopes of being named Social Innovator of the Year and receiving a financial investment, Carson’s Village will present its vision to a panel of judges and a voting audience of more than 1,000 people at Gilley’s in Dallas. Please mark your calendars for the evening of Tuesday, April 7, 2020 and attend the event in support of Carson’s Village. We will send ticket information as soon as it is available.

Make a Difference: What can you do to help?

As a finalist in United Way’s social innovation competition, we have the opportunity to earn money via social media. We will share more soon but, in the meantime, please share our Facebook page with your network via these instructions . The more people who follow us, the better!

Preparing our Village: Know More to Do More

In 2019, WebMD’s survey, “Grief: Beyond the 5 Stages,” sought to discover how people grieve after different life events and how they got through them. It was taken May 16 to May 19, 2019, by 1,084 U.S. respondents.

Of those, 780 said they had grieved over a life event in the past 3 years. The survey found, not surprisingly, that grief is complicated and personal and it can hit those who suffer loss, even when that loss isn’t the death of a loved one. This is the type of information that informs Carson’s Village’s Advocates who work with families for up to a year after the death of a loved one to ensure that the family is healing and grieving in a healthy way. As part of the Village, we hope you’ll expand your understanding of grief so that the next time you need to comfort a friend or family member, you are prepared.
