There's something, or someone, missing... You feel stuck as you struggle to navigate life's challenges, move beyond current circumstances, or cope with unbearable grief. Things seem dark. You're wounded, frustrated, and worried that it won't get better. You need someone to hope with, and maybe even for, you. Let me help you grieve, cultivate your best possible mental health, and enjoy increased well-being despite the fears and insecurities that hold you back. Through our sessions, you will be able to better understand, trust, and express yourself. This increased competence catalyzes your personal development and optimizes your life. With over ten years of specialized training, I tailor each session to your needs and personal style. I'll listen, help you gain clarity on what you want/need/feel, share suggestions/tools/skills, challenge you to make desired changes, remind you of your value (imperfections and all), and confidentially companion you on your therapeutic journey. I promise to be 100% present, fiercely compassionate, non-judgmental, appropriately lighthearted, and dedicated to helping you move through your challenges. I am well versed in the special circumstances and considerations needed when working with the bereaved, celebrity/public figures, LEOs/first responders, diversity factors, and members of various faiths.

I decided to become a counselor after working for over 30+ years in the aviation industry as a military and civilian helicopter pilot. I am a retired Marine Corps Veteran and completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University. I serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Associate under the supervision of Doctor Marianne DuMond, LPC-S. During my internship, primarily working with veterans and first responders, I realized my passion for working with the heroes in this great nation who serve others and protect our freedoms. I have a special place in my heart for our military veterans, first responders, mental health/medical professionals, and teachers. It is my honor to serve the men and women who put their lives on the line and give so much of themselves to all of us. I am also extremely passionate and focused on suicide prevention and postvention in our local community and enjoy speaking about these topics to anyone who will listen. I currently serve on the board of Touched by Suicide, lead a suicide loss survivor support group, and am a volunteer with the Denton County LOSS Team.

I help women find joy on their unchosen grief journey through Christian-based, clinically informed therapy. I utilize EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which are effective for addressing trauma, grief, anxiety, and other mental and emotional health concerns. My approach is collaborative, creative, goal-directed, and Spirit-led. I often pray for my clients at the beginning of session and incorporate their faith in Christ, and scripture as part of their counseling care. I have been working in outpatient mental health since 2000 and in private practice since 2017. I am one of the founders of the Christian Therapists of North Texas and The DFW First Responders Support Network. When I'm not collaborating with colleagues, networking, or counseling, I enjoy creating digital content to support women and other therapists, watching cooking competition shows with my husband, and playing with our four cats!

Attachment, Trauma, and Resiliency have consistently been my focus, over the last few decades, in the studying and training of my undergrad and graduate programs. As a relationship therapist, I help clients through discovery, healing, and building life skills in the relationship within themselves that help transcend and transform an authentic relationship with others. As a specialist in Marriage and Family Therapy and Child Development, I led the family therapy program for a teen girl's residential treatment center, partial hospitalization program, and adoption agency. I have worked alongside law enforcement in crisis interventions. And I helped girls who were rescued from human trafficking through a process of stabilization from a dysregulated state. Each of these training seasons led me to develop the Art of Relational Rhythm for couples, families, and relationships with self. Together, we walk through the journey of unexpectations and move towards a life with meaning and purpose.

My goal is to support you through your healing journey with patience and understanding, helping you rediscover hope and meaning in your life.

Carson’s Village has collected this list of counselors to make it easier for you to find a grief and bereavement specialist. However, the information about the counselor’s skill and practice areas has been provided by the counselor themselves (or their practice group), therefore, we cannot guarantee the counselors on this list are right for you or your specific needs. We recommend that you schedule a consultation with two to three different counselors. Most will meet with you for a brief consultation free of charge. It is important that you feel comfortable with your counselor, so make sure that you find someone who is polite, accommodating, listens and understands your needs, and is conveniently located (or easy to meet/contact). Use consultations to ask about fees and insurance, if the counselor truly specializes in grief and bereavement (or whatever your needs are), and to assess your fit with them in general. As a rule of thumb, follow your gut and don’t select a counselor until you find someone with whom you feel comfortable and supported.
